Questions people ask

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Every tool runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. The site has no server-side code and no upload endpoint, and its Content-Security-Policy only allows the page to talk to its own origin. You can load a tool, go offline, and it still works.

Is AI-Pix free? Is there a catch?

Free, no account, no watermark, no daily limit. There are currently no adverts either. If display ads are ever added they will be consent-gated and announced in the privacy policy first.

Is this actually AI?

Only where it says so. The background remover (ISNet, Apache-2.0, 44 MB) and the upscaler (Real-ESRGAN, BSD-3-Clause, 4.9 MB) run real neural networks on your device — each model downloads once and your photo never leaves the browser. The compressor, converter, resizer, palette, favicon and OG tools use standard browser image encoding, not machine learning, and we don't call them AI.

What formats are supported?

Input: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF (Chrome, Firefox, Safari 16.4+) and HEIC/HEIF — iPhone photos are decoded on your device by libheif, loaded only when you drop one. Output: PNG, JPEG, WebP and BMP everywhere, plus SVG tracing and ICO in the converter and favicon tools.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit because nothing is uploaded. Very large images are limited only by your device's memory; anything up to roughly 50 megapixels is fine on a modern phone or laptop.
